Experimental Design: (Great White Shark)
An Experiment i might be able to run is what conditions are sharks not able to live, especially since they have been around the earth for such a long time and so successfully. I would specifically run the experiment on great white sharks since they are one of the most vicious killing machines in the animal kingdom. The great white shark usually eats anything it eats and alike most other sharks can live in various ranges of the ocean such as 3 feet to as deep as 1280 meters deep. Also like any other animal it needs oxygen to survive. Therefore i would try to see what is more important for the great white shark to survive, if its food supply of depth of the water. Although in real life go hand in hand because maybe the majority of the sharks diet is more towards then shallow parts of the ocean. My hypothesis would be that the depth is more important for the shark's survival due to the pressure at different depths of the ocean. I believe that if the shark is in comfortable depth although there is less food supply i guess that the shark can survive and still eat anything it comes across, or maybe eventually adapt and change its diet. For the two experiments the independent variables would be the depth of the ocean where the is living and the change of the shark's food supply. the dependent variable would be time, for example the experiment can go like 3 generations of the shark. This expeiment would take about 30-45 years since the shark takes about 10-15 years to reach secually maturity. In this experiment i predict that the shark will be able to survive better and longer, and end up with a higher population if they are living in a good depth in the ocean. While if the shark is living in a part of the ocean that's to deep the shark population will end up less due to their struggle to survive in the new environment.
