Sexual or Asexual?
Sexual and asexual reproduction are the two different methods an organism. Sexual reproduction is when two parents pass their information on two each one of their offspring and come out genetically and physically different than the parent. Asexual reprodcution on the other hand is when one parents becomes two young offsrping with identical genetic information as the parent. Chondrichthyans reproduce in the sexual way. They have a male and female that have sexual intercourse in their own unique way. Then fertiliazation occurs followed by development in the inside of the parent. The way that the sharks mate is by the male positioning his ventral surface on the female's ventral surface. Then the sharks sexual organ which is called the claspers insert the female's cloaca. For the female the cloaca is both her sexual organ and where he digestive track ends. After this, the fertilization and development occur in the shark. The shark may hatch its eggs inside and keep the pups inside for a while until they finally given birth to. This process where the offspring is given birth to after they develop in the inside of the parent shark is called oviviparity.

Interesting Chromosomes and Genes:
Along the history of chondrichthyans and sharks there have been many interesting discoveries. For example one interesting genetic discovery about sharks is that they were found to be color blind. This means that the colorblind gene or sets of genes are being expressed in the sharks genome. This is an important discovery for us humans because it explains greatly why sharks mistakingly attack and kill humans as much as they do. These can also prevent future attacks and help lower that attack rate from the sharks by changing the color of surf materials such as the wetsuit or surfboard. Another interesting discovery or observation made from research is that some gene clusters are similar to other totally different species. For example some coding and non-coding genes found in some types of sharks have been compared and found a little similarity to the ones in humans and marsupials. This seems very strange of course becuase of how huge of a difference there is between in these species. This shows how there may be attributes found in some animals that are conserved or shown in totally different species and it doesnt mean they are related.
